- Motor vehicle travel is prohibited from the north boundary of Nehalem Bay State Park (45° 42.2196', Mile 299), southerly to the south boundary of the Boy Scout property north of Sand Lake (45° 18.6444', Mile 268), except as follows: Motor vehicles essential to and engaged in boat launchings will be allowed any time during the year for a distance of 300 feet northwest from (45° 26.4036' 123° 57.2052', Mile 279), near Happy Camp.

Gorgeous, sunny day with very calm surf. Nothing unusual or of note, other than the dead skate on the beach. read more
3 groups of Snowy Plovers feeding a the water's edge, approx 120 birds between Twin Rocks and Watseco. Other items: Small bag of dog poop. Buoy Beer label. Large amounts of seaweed in which debris and dead birds were tangled. Also, there was a service vehicle on the beach. read more

I was mistaken in identifying murlettes - they are immature common murres. The live murre was still alive the following morning (9/13 at 6:30am), but then a crow came and was pecking at it. read more
1 live murrelet, 1 dead murrelet, 1 dead cormorant. Didn't know what to do about the live murrelet on the beach. Called North Coast Wildlife Center, but it was after hours. Left the bird on the beach.read more
