The beach at mile 181 appears natural and free of changes. There are very few areas of dry sand or dunes. The tide comes almost to the cliff and path to the entrance. A few logs are visible at the high tide line. The beach is very flat and sand...read more
Mile 181 is evolving on a natural path with very little human caused changes. I walked right past the stairs to the day use parking area because it's camouflaged well. Logs, driftwood, and clean sand are common. The fluorescent painted signs that mark the miles are the only clue that there's...read more

It appears that the normal pattern of beach evolution is happening at mile 181. Erosion, large waves, high tides and wind. I see Blowout Creek is higher than my last visit. Large logs are apparently moving around at high tide leaving bits of shredded wood in the...read more
It was a quiet morning at mile 181. I didn't find any litter or plastic. The waves were small. The beach had dunes which had trapped small ponds of water. Weeks of windy days has caused this. Usually it's very flat on the sand. There was a hint of smoke...read more

It seems a perfect storm of covid, high tides, floating logs, and restrictions on facilities has kept people from visiting mile 181 recently. There's still a lot of sand near the walk up to the parking lot, but a steeper slope toward the ocean. The water comes all the way...read more
Fewer people using the beach generally over the summer and shorter visit times is helping to keep mile 181 wild and clean. The high sand keeps most of the beach above the tide. It protects the path people take from erosion as people walk down to the sand from the parking...read more

It was all quiet along mile 181 today. Few people and almost no trash to be found. Sand: clean..Water: clear, Birds: appear well fed. Sand level high. No dunes. Blowout Creek water level is low. read more
There were lots of people enjoying the roads and campground at mile 181, but not many people on that paticular beach. Cool and cloudy weather on a weekday may explain part of the reason. A few campers told me they like to visit lots of places and use the campground...read more
I saw lots of dungenous crab shells and sandcrab shells. I remember last year had remains of crabs in spring. In the morning it's uncrowded and even more so due to school still in session. I saw no trash. read more
Lots of wood in the tide line suggests to me the recent storm action is at work. Driftwood was partly blocking the trail to the beach. There was water surging up Blowout Creek when the water came up. Small bits of colored plastic were on the beach but the...read more

Lots of people on the beach, parking lot full, people trolling for parking spots, both at the day use and at the 101 Hobbit beach parking. Logs at edge of bluffs.read more

Few humans, clean beach, probably scoured by King Tide which occurred the night before. Only one piece of litter found, a 12" piece of rope. The photos, taken at mid-tide (receding) show an all sand beach, with low dunes (3' max.) near vegetation line, otherwise a smooth beach. Blowout Creek...read more
