Non-street legal vehicle travel is prohibited year around from the Siuslaw River (44° 00.9720', Mile 170), southerly to the south end of the South Jetty Road (43° 57.3846', Mile 166).
Motor vehicle travel is prohibited from May 1 through September 30 from the Siuslaw River (44° 00.9720', Mile 170), southerly to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area south parking lot (43° 57.5910', Mile 167) and from sunrise to sunset on legal holidays (as defined in ORS Chapter 187) and on Saturdays and Sundays between October 1 and April 30.

This is a beautiful beach, with few visitors. Tire tracks extending south from the Siuslaw River south jetty area may indicate prohibited activity. Large driftwood pieces thrown up into the dunes overlooking the beach indicate storm activity in this area can be quite intense, easily reaching up into the dunes. read more

Areas of sand erosion from winter storms have softened somewhat. Still lots of driftwood of all sizes, some large tree stumps with fantastic root structures. Most notable finding was a dead, well-decomposed deer, identified by its hooves and a small amount of remaining deer-colored hair.read more

Huge amount of Bull Kelp and wood pieces in wide driftline, quite dramatic. Sand has disappeared from in front of foredune. Sanderlings foraging at waterline, several groups of 8-30. Surf scoters in water. Many wood pieces with beaver teeth markings, obviously cut by beavers and have now washed down.read more
