This is a beautiful beach, with few visitors. Tire tracks extending south from the Siuslaw River south jetty area may indicate prohibited activity. Large driftwood pieces thrown up into the dunes overlooking the beach indicate storm activity in this area can be quite intense, easily reaching up into the dunes. read more

Beautiful near windless day at he beach. Felt much warmer than the 66 degrees noted.
Big surprise of the day was two turkey vultures dining on a dead crab. Plus, a colony of 19 seagulls...usually there are between 0 and 4 birds total on this stretch of beach.
All the people debris was...read more
Great day at the beach. Unusually large amount of driftwood due to recent storms inland. Also much more kelp than I've ever seen on this mile. Very few shells, rocks and likewise very little crab casings. One lady was walking her 7 well behaved basset hounds.
No birds on the beach (not...read more

Cool, beautiful day at the beach. A light to moderate wind coming from the north wasn't hard enough to create blowing sand even though the beach looked as though the wind had recently smoothed it. Most trash was either blown away or covered. Only the largest driftwood remained close to...read more
Beautiful, sunny, windy Easter weekend day at the coast. Birds couldn't compete with the wind...didn't see one bird on this walk. Human generated debris also couldn't compete with the wind...didn't notice any trash...it evidently was all blown away. There was less than normal small rocks and broken clam shells plus a...read more

More than usual jellyfish in the 9-10 inch diameter range washed ashore plus more kelp. Most noticeable was the...read more
The 8 people on this mile included 4 other people plus the four of us enjoying a beautiful, clear day walk on the beach. Two of my friends (from Hawaii) were completing a coast to coast trip...toes in the Atlantic and toes in the Oregon Pacific. A photo of them...read more
Walk started out 100% cloud cover. By the time we got out of the car the sun decided to show itself and the remainder of the walk was absolutely beautiful. Typical small bits of broken clam shells and an occasional crab casing. one clump of seaweed and one gull that...read more

Tide was going out. Started out with heavy mist but cleared by the end of the walk. Fog lifted slightly. Lots of molts and sand fleas (not sure what the "fleas" were).
Almost unnoticeable breeze which was great for eliminating the chill factor with the slightly wet clothes.
Many fresh...read more
Busy day for this mile for being in the middle of the week. Beautiful beach appreciation day brought out visitors to an otherwise forgotten area.
Few birds as usual.
Very little man-made trash. One piece of rope, two very small chunks of Styrofoam and a small, unrecognizable piece of plastic.

The only issue of concern today was the group camping near the foredune on the beach close to the beach access area. Estimate a total of 30 to 40 people using the beach for fun, playing in the sand and in the water close to shore. Two surfers in the...read more
Beautiful day at the beach even with the cloud cover. Filtered sun warmed the body and felt warmer than 57. As usual for this mile, there were very few people. Signs of construction (see photo). Also evidence of driftwood cutting and removal near the north end of mile. Wind was...read more
